Juvenile Charged Following Stolen Vehicle Crash in Seaford
Seaford, DE - A juvenile has been charged following the theft and subsequent rollover crash of a motor vehicle in Seaford, Delaware. The incident occurred on the evening of Tuesday, March 24, 2026.
At approximately 8:10 p.m., officers from the Seaford Police Department responded to a report of a stolen vehicle at a local Planet Fitness. The stolen vehicle was identified as a black Cadillac displaying a Delaware registration.
At approximately 8:44 p.m., the Seaford Police Department and the Delaware State Police were dispatched to a motor vehicle crash near the intersection of Bridgeville Highway and Sussex Highway.
Preliminary investigation determined that the vehicle failed to negotiate a curve, resulting in a rollover. Upon arrival, officers confirmed the vehicle involved was the stolen black Cadillac. The driver was observed fleeing south along Bridgeville Highway.
At approximately 9:34 p.m., a rideshare driver contacted the Seaford Police Department. The citizen reported dropping off a passenger near Middleford Road and Old Furnace Road. The driver advised authorities that the subject admitted to crashing a stolen vehicle prior to entering the rideshare car.
Officers responded to the specified area and located a juvenile matching the suspect's description walking nearby. The suspect was taken into custody without incident.
The juvenile was arrested and faces multiple charges. These include felony theft of a motor vehicle, misdemeanor theft under $1,500, and misdemeanor criminal mischief over $1,000.
Additional traffic offenses include leaving the scene of a property collision accident, failure to provide information at a collision scene, driving without a valid license, driving at an unreasonable or imprudent speed, and inattentive driving.
The juvenile was released to the custody of a parent pending a scheduled arraignment in Family Court.
