K9 Sniff Leads to Drug Charges for Two Subjects in Cambridge, Maryland

CAMBRIDGE, MD - On Tuesday, September 5, 2025, detectives conducted a traffic stop that resulted in two arrests for drug-related offenses.
At approximately 2:49 p.m., detectives from the Proactive Community Engagement Unit (PACE) stopped a vehicle for driving without its headlights on.
The occupants were identified as Akenia Dawn Fletcher, 47, of Cambridge, MD, and Raymond Chapelle King, 54, also of Cambridge, MD.
During the stop, a Cambridge Police Department K9 Unit was called to the scene. The K9 conducted a sniff of the vehicle and gave a positive alert for the presence of a Controlled Dangerous Substance (CDS). A subsequent search of the vehicle uncovered paraphernalia used for ingesting or inhaling heroin or crack cocaine.
A search of Fletcher's purse revealed additional paraphernalia used for inhaling crack cocaine. Officers also found crack cocaine during a search of Fletcher's person.
Both Fletcher and King were released on criminal citations for charges of CDS Possession Not Cannabis and CDS Possession Paraphernalia.
