LANIYA BAILEY CHARGES WITH ASSAULT IN CAMBRIDGE MARYLAND

Cambridge, MD-Cambridge Police Department Officers served a Criminal Summons to Laniya Bailey on March 1, 2024, at approximately 12:31 p.m. Bailey has been formally charged with three counts of second-degree assault. 

The charges result from an incident on February 20, 2024, on the 300 block of Shephard Ave. A victim, whose identity has been withheld for legal and safety reasons, reported that Bailey arrived at their residence accompanied by several individuals, seemingly intending to instigate a physical confrontation. 

In an effort to de-escalate the situation, the victim stepped outside to engage with Bailey and her companions. However, this proactive approach turned out to be ill-fated as Bailey assaulted the victim. 

Following the assault, the victim took a proactive stance to seek justice. The victim filed charges against Bailey with the Court Commissioner, leading to the summons mentioned above and charges being served.

As the rule of law prescribes, Bailey must appear in court to answer these serious allegations. The trial date has yet to be released however Bailey has her first initial Preliminary Inquiry hearing in front of Dorchester County District Court Judge Melvin Jews on April 8, 2024.
