Cambridge, MD - On February 25, 2024, at approximately 2:33 am, the Cambridge Police Department Officers were forced to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle that almost collided with their patrol car. The driver, later identified as Kim Cheron Thompson, was reportedly driving in the wrong lane on Bradley Ave at High St.

Officers quickly made contact with Thompson, and during their interaction, they observed indicators suggesting that she was under the influence of alcohol.

Details from the police report indicate that the odor of an alcoholic beverage was apparent within the vehicle, adding further suspicion to Thompson's impaired condition.

In an attempt to affirm their suspicions, the officers requested Thompson to complete the Standardized Field Sobriety Test (SFST). Thompson agreed but was unable to successfully pass the test, leading to her subsequent arrest.

Following her arrest, Thompson was transported to the Cambridge Police Department for processing. While at the police department, she refused to submit to a breath test, a decision that could potentially carry its own set of legal consequences.

Thompson was later released on traffic citations.  Thompson was charged with the following:

  • Failure to Driver Vehicle on Right Half of Roadway

  • Failure to Display Registration Card Upon Demand

  • Driving Vehicle While Under the Influence of Alcohol

  • Driving Vehicle While Impaired by Alcohol

  • Reckless Driving

  • Negligent Driving
