Laurel, DE - For the second time in two months, an officer from the Laurel Police Department has arrested Joshua Allen at the Hollybrook Apartment Complex on Pasture Lane in Laurel, Delaware.

This area in Laurel, notorious for its high crime rate, is often under surveillance to enforce trespassing and loitering ordinances. These types of proactive policing are meant to curb crime and keep the community safer.

On the night of May 1, 2024, an officer spotted a male known to the department as Joshua Allen attempting to evade detection by concealing his face with a hooded sweatshirt. Allen's conspicuous efforts to avoid the officer led to increased suspicion and further investigation.

Despite the officer's attempts to converse with Allen, the subject responded in a defiant and uncooperative manner. Allen refused to explain his presence in the 'No Trespassing/No Loitering' community, ultimately leading to his arrest.

Allen resisted arrest, during which he broke the officer's body-worn camera, a device which requires significant force to dislodge. Additional law enforcement officers were summoned to the scene to facilitate the arrest, which was able to be carried out without the use of additional force.

Allen, a 25-year-old resident of Laurel, DE, has a history with law enforcement. In March 2024, he was arrested and released on an $8.00 unsecured bond following a vehicle pursuit incident, which also resulted in resisting arrest and a DUI arrest.

In relation to this recent crime, Allen was charged with Resisting Arrest with Force or Violence, a Class G Felony. He was released after being issued a $1,000 unsecured bond by the Justice of the Peace Court 7.

So in essence, Allen has been arrested two times in less than 60 days, and for both crimes, a vehicle pursuit and resisting arrest, he was released with a total of $1,008.00 bond, with no money coming out of his pocket.

Allen is considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
