Laurel, DE - On May 2, 2024, at around 1:28 pm, an officer from the Laurel Police Department attempted to stop a white Kia Forte for speeding. The vehicle tried to avoid police by driving in a dangerous manner into the Lake Pines residential community off Route 24 (Laurel Rd).

Ignoring multiple stop signs, it drove recklessly down several residential streets. The vehicle eventually ended up at a dead-end road on Horsey Avenue and stopped in a resident's front yard.

Officers reported that a male subject, later identified as Brett Davis, fled the scene on foot. The female occupant of the vehicle, later identified as Sadie Henry (20) of Laurel, Delaware, was taken into custody.

Henry claimed she was alone in the vehicle and was visiting the residents of the house she parked in front of. However, the residents of that unit denied knowing her and informed the police that she was not welcome on their property.

During a search of the vehicle, officers found marijuana and an open liquor bottle. The car was impounded, and Henry was transported to the Laurel Police Department for further processing.

Henry now faces multiple charges, including the following:

  • Disregarding Police Officer Signal (Class G Felony)

  • Providing False Statement to Law Enforcement - Delay Felony Investigation (Class G Felony)

  • Hindering Prosecution - Person Sought for Felony (Class G Felony)

  • Resisting Arrest (Class A Misdemeanor)

  • Reckless Driving (Misdemeanor)

  • Underage Possession of Alcohol (Civil Violation)

  • Possess Personal Use Marijuana Under 21 (Civil Violation)

  • Multiple Traffic Violations

Henry was arraigned at the Delaware Justice of the Peace Court 2 and was released on a $5,100 unsecured bail.

A warrant has been issued for Brett Davis, also from Laurel, Delaware. Through investigation, it was discovered that Davis was assisted by family members who helped him leave the area.

As a result of this incident, a warrant has been issued for Davis' arrest, charging him with the following crimes:

  • Resisting Arrest (Class A Misdemeanor)

  • Underage Possession of Alcohol (Civil Violation)

  • Possess Personal Use Marijuana Under 21 (Civil Violation)

In addition to the new charges, Davis was found to have warrants from multiple other agencies. Davis has two active warrants issued by the Delaware State Police, one warrant issued by the Dewey Beach Police Department, and a capias issued by the Laurel Alderman Court.

In Maryland, Davis has active arrest warrants with the Worcester County Sheriff's Office for a felony probation violation.
