Wicomico County, MD - A Thursday afternoon pursuit in Wicomico County ended with the arrest of an individual wanted for an active felony arrest warrant.

Law enforcement officers in Wicomico County arrested Michael Brinson, a man known to Wicomico County Sheriff's Office Deputies as having an outstanding felony arrest warrant from the Wicomico County Circuit Court. The warrant was issued for charges related to robbery, assault, and theft.

The incident began when a Wicomico County Sheriff's Office Deputy recognized Brinson in a vehicle on the Salisbury Bypass. When the deputy stopped the vehicle however, Brinson refused to exit the vehicle.

Brinson was given multiple commands to exit the vehicle, a Toyota Highlander, but instead fled the scene, leading law enforcement on a vehicle pursuit. This pursuit was approved and authorized due to the seriousness of the original crime (Robbery-Felony).

The chase went northbound on Hobbs Road, where Brinson ignored traffic signals, resulting in a collision at the intersection of U.S. Route 50. The crash involved Brinson's vehicle, a box truck, and a Ford Explorer.

After the accident, Brinson exited his vehicle and fled on foot. Deputies continued their pursuit and successfully apprehended him in a nearby wooded area.

Following his arrest, Brinson will now face multiple new charges related to this incident, including traffic violations, resisting arrest, and failure to comply with lawful orders.

Brinson was subsequently transferred to the Wicomico County Detention Center, where he awaits a hearing with a District Court Commissioner. He will be held without bond on his previous charges until he appears before a Circuit Court judge.
