Man Arrested After Alleged Burglary at Rehoboth Beach Home

Rehoboth Beach, DE - On March 9, 2026, at approximately 3:38 p.m., officers responded to the ocean block of Pennsylvania Avenue in Rehoboth Beach after a homeowner reported that his security system had alerted him to someone inside the residence while it was expected to be unoccupied.

When officers arrived, they were able to see inside the home and observed Joseph Lilly, 41, of Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, sitting at a table inside the residence.

Officers then entered the home and took Lilly into custody without incident.

The investigation found that Lilly had allegedly broken a window to enter the residence and also determined that food from the home had been eaten.

Lilly was charged with Burglary in the Third Degree, a felony, as well as Theft Under $1,500 and Criminal Mischief Under $1,000, both misdemeanors. He was issued a $4,000 unsecured bond.
