Man Arrested After Allegedly Pointing Gun at Victim on East Main Street

SALISBURY, MD - The Salisbury Police Department arrested a 31-year-old man yesterday following reports of a weapons incident on East Main Street.


Officers responded to a business in the 300 block of East Main Street at approximately 11:46 a.m. after receiving reports of a man with a gun. Upon arrival, police met with witnesses and a 35-year-old male victim who provided details about the incident.


The investigation revealed that Richard Washington, 31, became involved in an argument with the victim. During the altercation, Washington allegedly pointed a handgun at the victim. Police also state that Washington entered a vehicle and drove it toward the victim during the incident.


Officers located Washington shortly after the incident occurred and placed him under arrest. He was subsequently transported to the Wicomico County Detention Center to appear before a District Court Commissioner.


Washington was charged with the following:


  • Assault-First Degree
  • Assault-Second Degree


After seeing the District Court Commissioner, Washington was released on his own personal recognizance.
