HARBESON, DE - A 36-year-old man from Harbeson was arrested on multiple drug and weapon charges following a vehicle pursuit with police on Saturday afternoon. The incident began on October 18, 2025, at approximately 2:00 p.m., when Delaware State Police troopers were dispatched to a business complex on Dozer Lane.
They received a report of a man who appeared to be under the influence of an illegal substance or experiencing a medical issue. Upon arrival, troopers found Ryan Doneker in the driver's seat of a Honda CR-V.
As they approached the vehicle to check on his well-being, Doneker fled the scene, driving across a grass field. Troopers activated their emergency lights, but Doneker continued onto Indian Mission Road, initiating a pursuit.
Police pursued Doneker as he drove erratically and committed multiple traffic violations. On Gravel Hill Road, troopers successfully used stop sticks to deflate one of the Honda's tires. Doneker eventually came to a stop near Doc Frame Road.
Doneker then exited the vehicle holding what appeared to be a tan handgun, which he dropped at the troopers' command. The item was later identified as a non-lethal pepper-ball gun.
Doneker was taken into custody without further incident. A search revealed .11 grams of cocaine, an icepick, and approximately $4,700 in suspected drug proceeds.
Troopers also noted that Doneker showed signs of impairment during their interaction. Doneker was transported to Troop 4 and charged with several offenses, including Possession of a Deadly Weapon During the Commission of a Felony and Possession with Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance.
Following an arraignment by the Justice of the Peace Court 3, he was committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution on a $24,401 secured bond.
