Man Arrested for 6th Offense Felony DUI

Lincoln, DE -The Delaware State Police have arrested Luis Rodriguez, a 65-year-old resident of Selbyville, Delaware, for a 6th offense felony driving under the influence (DUI). The incident occurred on the afternoon of July 15, 2025, in Lincoln, Delaware.
At approximately 2:00 p.m., troopers from the Highway Safety Unit responded to a call for a welfare check on Dupont Boulevard near Morgan Drive. Upon arriving at the scene, troopers located a silver Lexus RX350 stopped in the median strip. The driver, later identified as Luis Rodriguez, appeared to be experiencing a medical emergency.
During their interaction with Rodriguez, troopers noted signs of impairment. Emergency Medical Services transported him to a local hospital for treatment.
Following his release from the hospital, the Delaware State Police conducted Standardized Field Sobriety Tests. Rodriguez was subsequently arrested for driving under the influence.
A background check revealed Rodriguez has five prior DUI-related convictions. A search of the vehicle, conducted before it was towed, uncovered approximately 0.06 grams of heroin along with related drug paraphernalia.
Rodriguez was transported to Troop 7 and charged with multiple offenses. He was later arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 3 and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution. His charges and bail details are as follows:
- 6th Offense DUI
- Possession of a Controlled or Counterfeit Substance (Heroin)
- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
- Driving Without a Valid License
- Failure to Remain in a Single Lane
Rodriguez is being held on a secured bond set at $8,202.
