Man Arrested for Damaging Public Safety Building Phone

CAMBRIDGE, MD -Cambridge Police Department officers arrested a 40-year-old man following incidents of property damage at the Public Safety Building. The arrest occurred after investigators connected the suspect to multiple acts of vandalism targeting communication equipment.


On September 1, 2025, officers discovered damage to a public phone located in the lobby of the Public Safety Building at approximately 7:22 a.m. The phone had been pulled from the wall and was no longer functional.


Security footage revealed a male subject entering the building, causing the damage, and subsequently leaving the premises.


Further investigation of video surveillance showed the same individual had previously damaged the phone on August 23, 2025. Officers used the footage to identify and locate the suspect on Washington Street at Crusader Road.


The suspect was identified as Nicholas Scott Donofrio, 40, of Linkwood, Maryland. Donofrio was placed under arrest and later released on criminal citations. He faces two counts of malicious destruction of property in connection with both incidents.
