Man Arrested on Outstanding Warrant Following Traffic Stop in Talbot County
Talbot County, MD - On February 27, 2026, a motor vehicle was stopped by deputies from the Talbot County Sheriff's Office. The traffic stop occurred on Ocean Gateway near Backtown Road and was initiated due to a moving violation.
The driver of the vehicle was identified as 30-year-old Devin Demonn Wheatley of Hurlock, Maryland. During the stop, a routine records check was conducted by the deputies.
The check revealed that an active arrest warrant had been issued for Wheatley by the Circuit Court for Talbot County on January 29, 2026. The warrant charged him with a violation of probation, which stemmed from an original charge of handgun possession.
Following the discovery of the warrant, Wheatley was transported to the Talbot County Central Booking facility for processing. He was ordered to be held at the facility pending a hearing before a Circuit Court judge.
On March 2, 2026, Wheatley appeared before Judge Philip T. Cronan, who ordered Wheatley to be held without bond. Wheatley will appear in Talbot County Circuit Court on March 13, 2026 at 9:00 AM.
