Man Convicted in Wicomico County Firearm Straw Purchase Case
Salisbury, MD - On November 19, 2025, a Wicomico County jury convicted Terrance Terrone White, Jr., 35, of Salisbury, Maryland, on charges of firearm straw purchase and two counts of illegal possession of a regulated firearm.
The conviction followed a three-day trial in the Circuit Court for Wicomico County, presided over by the Honorable M. Maciarello. White's sentencing has been postponed pending a pre-sentence investigation, and he will remain in custody.
The conviction stems from an incident on November 16, 2024, when White sold a firearm to Dequan Bratten. On the same day, Bratten used the firearm to shoot his estranged wife four times. The victim survived the attack but suffers from long-term injuries.
Evidence presented during the trial indicated that White may have provided ammunition to Bratten, instructed him on how to use the firearm, and was aware of Bratten's intentions.
However, the jury did not convict White on charges of being an accomplice to attempted murder.
Wicomico County State's Attorney (SA) Jamie L. Dykes commented on the verdict, stating, "Those who deal in illegal firearms create a significant public safety risk to our community and they will be held accountable. Terrance White's conviction reflects the unwavering commitment of Wicomico County law enforcement and my Office to holding violent offenders accountable and to protecting our community."
SA Dykes commended the Wicomico County Sheriff's Office, specifically lead investigator Detective Chaffey, for their work on the case. She also praised lead prosecutor Senior Assistant State's Attorney Lauren Bourdon for her litigation of the matter.
