Man Injured in Accidental Structure Fire in Salisbury

Wicomico County, MD - On the evening of January 23, 2026 at approximately 8:38 PM, the Salisbury Fire Department responded to a structure fire at a residence on Druid Hill Road in Wicomico County, Maryland.

Seven firefighters arrived at the scene to find an outdoor structure used to house rabbits on fire. The crew brought the fire under control within two minutes.

The owner of the property discovered the fire before emergency personnel arrived.

A preliminary investigation determined the cause of the fire was accidental. A heat lamp became detached from its mount and fell into animal bedding, which subsequently ignited.

While no animals were reported injured during the incident, an adult male sustained serious burns to his hand. He was transported to a local hospital for evaluation and treatment.

The estimated loss to the contents of the structure is $250.
