Maryland DOT Announces Bridge Closure for Concrete Repairs in Dorchester County
Dorchester County, MD - The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will close the Cambridge Creek Drawbridge on MD 795 (Maryland Avenue) in Cambridge, Dorchester County, beginning Monday, November 3, for essential concrete repairs.
The bridge closure will remain in effect through Friday, November 7, weather permitting. Marine and pedestrian traffic will not be affected by the construction work.
Construction crews will begin the closure at 7 a.m. on Monday. PDI Sheetz Construction Corp. of Linthicum will serve as the contractor for the project. The work zone will be marked with reflective barrels, temporary traffic signs, and variable message sign boards to guide motorists around the construction area. Two detour routes have been established for the closure.
Motorists traveling west on Maryland Avenue will turn left onto Dorchester Avenue, then right onto Cedar Street, followed by a right turn onto Academy Avenue before returning to Maryland Avenue.
Drivers heading east on Maryland Avenue will follow a different route. They will turn right onto Academy Avenue, then left onto Cedar Street, and left again on Dorchester Avenue before proceeding to Maryland Avenue.
The State Highway Administration expects to complete the concrete repairs by the end of the week. Weather conditions may affect the project timeline.
