Maryland Man Arrested for Shoplifting at Food Lion

CAMBRIDGE, MD - On Tuesday, September 2, 2025, a Maryland man was arrested in connection with a shoplifting incident at a local Food Lion.


At approximately 12:34 p.m., officers from the Cambridge Police Departmentwere dispatched to the Food Lion following a report of shoplifting. While en route, police were notified that the suspect had already left the premises.


Officers located an individual matching the suspect's description near a Wawa convenience store. The subject was identified as James Wade Masser, a 53-year-old resident of Fishing Creek, Maryland.


A search of Masser revealed the items stolen from Food Lion. He was also found to be in possession of paraphernalia used for inhaling crack cocaine.


Masser was subsequently released on criminal citations for the following charges:

  • Theft Less Than $100
  • CDS Possession Not Cannabis
  • CDS Possession Paraphernalia
