Maryland Man Dies in Sunday Morning Crash in Caroline County

CAROLINE COUNTY, MD - A 39-year-old Maryland man has died following a single-vehicle crash in Caroline County, Maryland.

Robert Rowland Jr., 39, of Church Hill, Maryland. Rowland Jr. was the front-seat passenger in a 2014 Ford Focus. He was pronounced deceased at the scene by personnel from the Caroline County Department of Emergency Services.

The crash occurred just before 2:00 a.m. on December 7, 2025. Deputies from the Caroline County Sheriff's Office responded to a motor vehicle crash in the area of Greensboro Road and Burrsville Road.

The preliminary investigation indicates that a 2014 Ford Focus, driven by 44-year-old Michael Steinberg of Dunkirk, Maryland, was traveling southbound on Greensboro Road.

For unknown reasons, the vehicle left the roadway and entered the front yard of a residence. The vehicle then overturned before striking a group of trees, where it came to a rest.

Steinberg was transported in serious condition by Caroline County Emergency Medical Services to Bayhealth Hospital in Dover, Delaware.

Greensboro Road was temporarily closed for the crash investigation. The Maryland State Police Crash Team is assisting the Caroline County Sheriff's Office in the ongoing investigation.
