Dorchester County, MD - The Maryland National Guard arrived in Dorchester County last night to support local Fire and EMS departments. The units are providing additional manpower and transportation assistance.

Their primary focus is transporting EMS providers to patients' homes in locations that are currently inaccessible to standard vehicles due to snow and ice.

Guard units are working in coordination with the Dorchester County Sheriff's Office to support transportation in areas with limited access. If road conditions deteriorate further, the Guard is prepared to transport essential personnel to and from their homes and workplaces.

This support is intended to ensure the continuity of critical services within the county.

Units have been strategically stationed across Dorchester County to ensure a rapid response time. Upon arrival, Guard members were briefed by the Dorchester County Sheriff's Office and Dorchester County Emergency Management.

Deputies then escorted the units to their designated staging locations after they were familiarized with the area.

Dorchester County officials have expressed appreciation for the continued partnership and support of the Maryland National Guard as agencies work together to keep the community safe during these severe weather conditions.
