Maryland State Police Give Update About Sunday Night Shootings in Salisbury
Wicomico County, MD - The Maryland State Police Homicide Unit is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred in Wicomico County on Sunday evening. Troopers from the Salisbury Barrack (E) were called to a residence on North Westover Drive in Salisbury, Maryland shortly before 5:00 p.m. for a report of a shooting.
Upon arrival, they found a man and a woman with apparent gunshot wounds. Both individuals were transported to a local hospital for medical treatment. The woman was tragically pronounced deceased by hospital personnel. The man is currently being treated for his injuries. The identities of the victims are being withheld pending notification of their next of kin.
The initial on-scene investigation led officers from the Salisbury City Police Department and the Maryland State Police to a location of the suspect on Jefferson Street in Salisbury, Maryland.
Law Enforcement Officers responded to that location and shortly before 7:00 p.m., an officer-involved shooting occurred. The Independent Investigations Division of the Maryland Office of the Attorney General will handle the investigation into the officer-involved shooting.
Meanwhile, the Maryland State Police Homicide Unit is continuing its investigation into the original shooting on North Westover Drive.
