Maryland State Police Investigate Two-Vehicle Collision in Wicomico County

Wicomico County, MD - Maryland State Police are investigating a two-vehicle collision that occurred on Sunday evening in Wicomico County, Maryland.

The crash resulted in injuries to six individuals and prompted a three-hour road closure.

At approximately 6:50 p.m., troopers from the Salisbury Barrack responded to the intersection of U.S. Route 50 and White Lowe Road. Preliminary investigations determined that a Toyota Corolla failed to stop at a red traffic signal. The Toyota then struck a Ford Fiesta, which was attempting to make a left turn from eastbound Route 50.

Following the impact, the Ford was forced off the roadway and collided with a light pole. The Toyota also left the roadway. It traveled down an embankment, overturned, and struck a tree.

Emergency medical personnel responded to the scene to assist the injured. Two passengers from the Toyota, a 17-year-old and a 25-year-old, were transported by Maryland State Police Aviation Command to a local trauma center.

The driver of the Toyota, an 18-year-old male, was taken by ambulance to a local hospital. Two additional passengers in the Toyota, aged 18 and 20, were also transported by ambulance for medical treatment.

The driver of the Ford Fiesta, a 46-year-old female, was transported by ambulance to a local hospital to be treated for her injuries.

The intersection was closed for approximately three hours to allow authorities to process the scene. The Maryland State Police Crash Team continues to lead the active investigation.
