Maryland State Trooper Saves The Life Of Infant Baby Who Was Choking
State of MD - Heroes don't always wear caps, some wear a badge and we call them Maryland State Troopers!
As the result of his actions, Maryland State Trooper First Class Nicholas Warren, a seven-year veteran of the Maryland State Police assigned to the North East Barrack, is being recognized for saving the life of a choking infant in Cecil County, Maryland.
The incident occurred on Saturday after a routine traffic stop quickly became an urgent emergency.
On Valentine's Day, February 14, 2026, at around 9:44 a.m., Trooper First Class Nicholas Warren was conducting a traffic stop in the Walnut Drive area of Elkton, Maryland.
After making contact with the driver, Trooper First Class Warren was returning to his marked patrol vehicle when another vehicle pulled up alongside him.
The driver in that vehicle shouted, "We need help! My baby is choking!"
Without hesitation, Trooper First Class Warren prioritized this baby's life and immediately called for emergency medical services, taking the infant from the vehicle and beginning to provide life-saving first aid.
Following his training, he administered back blows for several moments and successfully removed the blockage, allowing the baby to begin to breathe again.
Emergency medical services arrived shortly after to evaluate the infant. The swift actions, training, and composure demonstrated by Trooper First Class Warren are credited with preventing what could have been a tragic outcome.
