Milford Police Investigate Fatal Single-Vehicle Collision
Sussex County, DE - A fatal single-vehicle collision is currently being investigated by the Milford Police Department. The incident occurred on the early morning of Friday, March 27, 2026.
At approximately 7:10 a.m., a 2012 Jeep Liberty was traveling northbound on North Street. The vehicle was located just north of Northwest 4th Street when it struck a parked vehicle.
Following the initial collision, the Jeep left the roadway. An electrical pole was then struck by the vehicle. The vehicle caught fire after the impact. The sole occupant of the vehicle was extracted by Milford Police Department officers upon their arrival at the scene.
Life-saving measures were initiated by police and emergency medical services personnel. The 32-year-old male operator was subsequently transported to an area hospital. He was pronounced deceased at the medical facility. His identity is currently being withheld until familial notification is completed.
North Street, between Northwest 4th Street and North Street Extension, was closed for approximately two and a half hours. This road closure was required while the scene was investigated and the electrical pole was repaired.
