Millsboro Man Arrested on Drug and Weapon Charges Following Search
 
MILLSBORO, DE - A 58-year-old Millsboro man has been arrested on multiple felony drug and weapon offenses following a search of his residence on October 17, 2025.
The Delaware State Police arrested John Bender after a months-long drug investigation conducted by the Sussex County Drug Unit. Detectives began the investigation after receiving information that Bender was allegedly dealing drugs from his home.
During the investigation, detectives observed activity consistent with drug dealing and obtained a search warrant for his residence. On October 17, detectives executed the search warrant at the home, located in the 32,000 block of South Captains Way.
Bender was detained at the residence during the search. The search led to the discovery of approximately 22.9 grams of methamphetamine, a digital scale, and drug packaging materials.
Detectives also located 21 knives and four pairs of brass knuckles, which are defined as deadly weapons. Bender is a convicted felon and is prohibited from possessing deadly weapons.
He was transported to Troop 4 and charged with the following offenses:
- Possession of a Deadly Weapon During the Commission of a Felony (25 counts)
- Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance (Tier 2 Quantity)
- Possession of a Controlled Substance (Tier 2 Quantity)
- Possession of a Deadly Weapon by a Person Prohibited (24 counts)
- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
Following his arraignment by Justice of the Peace Court 3, Bender was committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution on a $102,200 cash bond.
