CECIL COUNTY, MD - A Cecil County woman has been arrested and charged with the murder of her five-week-old daughter following an investigation by the Maryland State Police Homicide Unit.

Destiny Faith Chiveral, 24, of Charlestown, was taken into custody on Thursday and charged with first-degree murder, first-degree child abuse resulting in death, and other related offenses.

She is being held without bond at the Cecil County Detention Center pending further court proceedings.

The investigation began on December 4, 2025, when law enforcement and emergency medical personnel were dispatched to a residence in the unit-block of Leedle Circle in Rising Sun, Maryland, shortly after 9:00 a.m.

Upon arrival, a five-week-old female was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The infant's body was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore, where an autopsy revealed evidence of trauma.

The Maryland State Police Homicide Unit led the investigation. In consultation with the Cecil County State's Attorney's Office, investigators executed search warrants for Chiveral's phone, person, and two residences associated with her. Evidence recovered during the searches provided probable cause for the charges.

Chiveral was arrested without incident and transported to the North East Barrack for processing. She has since had an initial appearance before a district court commissioner.
