Multi-County Vehicle Pursuit Ends in Maryland After Delaware Car Theft
Wicomico County, MD - The Wicomico County Sheriff's Office assisted Delaware State Police in a vehicle pursuit that spanned multiple counties today, on October 22, 2025. The incident began when Delaware authorities pursued a stolen vehicle at approximately 11:06 a.m.
During the initial pursuit in Delaware, the suspect crashed the stolen vehicle and fled on foot. The individual then stole a second vehicle and drove into Wicomico County, Maryland.
Delaware State Police continued the pursuit across state lines but lost sight of the vehicle shortly after entering Maryland. Wicomico County deputies searched the area for the suspect vehicle, described as a black minivan.
Law enforcement located the minivan in a gas station parking lot, where the driver appeared to be attempting to avoid detection. When deputies approached the vehicle, the driver fled the scene.
The pursuit continued through rural areas across multiple jurisdictions. The chase traveled through portions of Dorchester County and Caroline County in Maryland, briefly entered Delaware, and returned to Caroline County.
As the pursuit approached Denton, a more populated area with heavy traffic, Wicomico County Sheriff's Office terminated the chase for public safety reasons. Deputies are working with Delaware State Police to identify the suspect.
Authorities will file appropriate charges once the individual's identity is confirmed.
