New Law Enforcement Officers Graduate from Eastern Shore Academy

Wicomico County, MD - Twenty law enforcement officers from six Maryland counties recently graduated from the Eastern Shore Criminal Justice Academy (ESCJA). This marked the 95th entrance-level class to complete the program, which is operated by Wor-Wic Community College in Salisbury.

The graduation ceremony took place at the Roland E. Powell Convention Center in Ocean City.

Chief Raymond Austin of the Ocean City Police Department delivered the commencement address to the new officers. The event was presided over by Wor-Wic officials, including John C. Moses, director of criminal justice; Donald Rollyson Jr., associate director of the ESCJA; and Rob Dell'Erba, the ESCJA coordinator. Agency representatives presented awards for certification and excellence during the proceedings.

Jason Smith of the Fruitland Police Department served as the class speaker. He was joined by fellow graduates representing various departments across Wicomico, Worcester, Somerset, Talbot, Caroline, and Queen Anne's counties.

Wicomico County graduates include:

  • Joseph Corbett and Evan Wilson (Wicomico County Sheriff's Office)

Worcester County graduates include:

  • Damian Paul (Pocomoke City Police Department)
  • Charles Foy, Alessia Matha, Haley Schafer, Drake Swanger, Shaakira White, and Connor Wisniewski (Ocean City Police Department)
  • Josie Burkhead (Worcester County Sheriff's Office)

Somerset County graduates include:

  • Fisher Lloyd and William Miller (Princess Anne Police Department)
  • Zachary Neilson (Crisfield Police Department)

Upper Shore graduates include:

  • Garrett Clark (Caroline County Sheriff's Department)
  • Alejandro Saldana (Easton Police Department)
  • Michael Buffum and Nathan Porter (Queen Anne's County Sheriff's Office)

The ESCJA provides training for law enforcement personnel across the Eastern Shore region.
