The Ocean City Department of Emergency Services is proud to announce that its Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training program is set to begin on March 21, 2024. This free training course will help strengthen our community's resilience and preparedness. 

The CERT Program is a community-building initiative designed to empower citizens in Ocean City and surrounding areas to be self-reliant in times of crisis. By participating in this informative and beneficial training, participants can play a crucial role in assisting themselves, their families, and fellow community members during catastrophic disasters. 

Empowering Citizens: The CERT Program equips participants with essential skills to recognize and respond to natural and man-made hazards within the community.

Community Engagement: CERT members contribute significantly to town events and engage with the community, fostering a spirit of unity and preparedness.

Disaster Preparedness: Participants will receive comprehensive training on disaster preparedness, search and rescue techniques, hazardous materials emergencies, and essential fire suppression.

Local Contributions: CERT members serve as an invaluable resource when emergency services personnel are unable to reach everyone immediately following a disaster.

The CERT Program is a free training course that will meet once a week in the evening hours of eight weeks. CERT has a limited class size, and applicants must be 16 to participate. Interested applicants must complete an application and permit the Ocean City Police Department to conduct a background check.
