OCEAN CITY, MD - The Ocean City Fire Department announced on December 19, 2025, that it has successfully completed the Ambulance Inspection Program (VAIP). The inspection was administered by the Maryland Institute for Emergency Medical Services Systems (MIEMSS). This completion underscores the department's adherence to emergency medical care standards for the area.

The VAIP is a voluntary initiative within the state of Maryland. It identifies emergency response vehicles that meet specific standards of excellence. The inspection ensures that ambulances are correctly equipped and compliant with regulations. It also verifies readiness to deliver emergency services.

Ten advanced life support ambulances and three fire engines were subjected to the inspection. All vehicles passed on the first attempt. This result fulfills the medical director review requirements for ambulance equipment as outlined in COMAR Title 30.03.03.03C(1).

Battalion Chief Amanda Bunting, the overseer of EMS Operations, acknowledged the preparedness of the department personnel.

"This achievement reflects the pride, dedication, and attention to detail our EMS providers bring to work every single day. Ensuring our units exceed state standards means our community can trust that when they call 911, they are receiving the highest level of care. I'm incredibly proud of our team."

The department maintains its focus on providing emergency services and seeking improvement in emergency response protocols.
