Ocean City Lifts Boil Water Advisory for 120th Street Area

OCEAN CITY, MD - The Town of Ocean City has lifted the boil water advisory that affected residents in the 120th Street area. The advisory was issued on Monday, August 25, 2025.
Water Deemed Safe for All Uses
The Ocean City Water Department has determined that water in the affected area is now safe for all uses. This includes drinking, cooking, bathing, and food preparation.
Water quality tests conducted on samples from the affected area confirm that the water meets safety standards for consumption. Officials report that the problem causing the advisory has been corrected.
Required Actions for Residents
Before resuming normal water use, residents must complete several steps to clear their plumbing systems and appliances:
Flush Household Pipes
- Run all cold-water faucets on full for at least 5 minutes
- Residents in apartment buildings or with complex service connections should consider flushing for longer periods
Replace Water Filters
- Replace filters in faucets and appliances such as refrigerators with new ones
Clean and Flush Appliances
- Dishwashers: Run an empty cycle using the highest heat setting to sanitize the machine
- Ice makers: Discard all existing ice cubes, run the ice maker for one hour, discard those ice cubes, and wipe the bin with a sanitizing solution
