Ocean City, MD - The Ocean City Police Department has arrested a Baltimore man following an investigation into multiple vehicle break-ins, credit card fraud, and firearm-related offenses.

On June 12, 2025, at approximately 8:59 a.m., officers responded to the 100 block of Wicomico Street after receiving a report of a vehicle break-in. The victim reported that she had arrived in the area on the afternoon of June 11 and parked her vehicle.

Upon returning the following morning, she observed signs of a break-in and discovered personal belongings were missing. She also received notifications from her credit card company regarding unauthorized transactions at several nearby businesses. Officers reviewed local security camera footage and obtained a description of the suspect.

Later that evening, at approximately 7:46 p.m., a Worcester County Sheriff's Deputy conducting patrol near 8th Street and Wilmington Lane identified an individual matching the suspect's description. The deputy, along with an Ocean City Police officer on bicycle patrol, attempted to stop the suspect. The individual fled on foot, but officers apprehended him after a brief pursuit. He was identified as Terrell Jones, 37, of Baltimore, Maryland.

During the pursuit, officers observed Jones discarding several items along his path, including a large bag concealed in a rose bush. Upon recovering the bag, police discovered a modified handgun.

Additional property discarded during the chase was recovered and later linked to two vehicle break-ins, including the one reported on Wicomico Street and another unreported incident on the 400 block of Baltimore Avenue.

Further investigation revealed that Jones is legally prohibited from possessing a firearm. Authorities also determined that he had multiple outstanding arrest warrants, including one from Baltimore County and another for a violation of probation issued by the Circuit Court for Baltimore City.

Jones was arrested and charged with several offenses, including:

  • Theft ($100 to <$1,500) - 2 counts
  • Theft Scheme ($100 to <$1,500) - 4 counts
  • Credit Card Fraud - 2 counts
  • Credit Card Theft - 2 counts
  • Rogue and Vagabond - 3 counts
  • Handgun-Related Offenses - 9 counts
  • Failure to Obey a Lawful Order
  • Disorderly Conduct
  • Resisting Arrest
  • Pedestrian-Related Traffic Violations - 3 counts
  • Outstanding Arrest Warrants (Baltimore County and Baltimore City Circuit Court)

Jones was seen by a Maryland District Court Commissioner and was ordered to be held without bond. He has since been transferred to the Worcester County Jail.

"This case is a great example of teamwork and vigilance," said Ocean City Police Chief Raymond Austin. "Thanks to the alert response of the Worcester County Sheriff's Deputy and the close coordination between our agencies, a dangerous individual was quickly identified, pursued, and safely taken into custody. I also want to recognize the diligent investigative work of our officers in recovering stolen property and uncovering the full scope of this suspect's criminal activity."

Police continue to encourage residents and visitors to report suspicious activity to aid in ongoing investigations.
