Ocean City Police Investigate Fatal Coastal Highway Crash
Ocean City, MD - The Ocean City Police Department is investigating a fatal motor vehicle collision. The incident occurred on March 4, 2026. Officers responded to the area of 122nd Street and Coastal Highway at approximately 10:05 p.m. Two vehicles were involved in the crash.
Good Samaritans at the scene initiated lifesaving efforts. Ocean City EMS personnel arrived and continued these efforts. A 78-year-old male from Ocean View, Delaware, was pronounced deceased at the scene. He was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for an autopsy.
Two additional individuals were transported by EMS to TidalHealth. Both individuals sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
The collision spanned several northbound and southbound lanes on Coastal Highway. This resulted in multiple lane closures. A temporary traffic pattern was established to route vehicles around the scene.
Northbound Coastal Highway was reduced to one lane for approximately three hours. Southbound traffic at 123rd Street was closed for about six hours.
The Traffic Safety Unit conducted a thorough investigation at the location. This remains an active and ongoing investigation.
