Parkside High School Student Arrested After Handgun Found at School

SALISBURY, MD - A Parkside High School student was arrested Wednesday morning after a school resource officer discovered the individual was carrying a loaded handgun on school property.
The incident occurred at approximately 9:32 a.m. when a Wicomico County Sheriff's Office School Resource Officer observed Devon Rinvil Thelusma in the school's main office. The officer had previously received information suggesting that Thelusma might be in possession of a firearm.
During the subsequent investigation, the school resource officer located a loaded 9mm handgun and a small quantity of suspected marijuana on the student.
Thelusma was immediately taken into custody and transported to the Wicomico County Sheriff's Office for processing.
The student is currently pending criminal charges related to the incident. The Wicomico County Sheriff's Office is working closely with Wicomico County Public Schools to ensure continued school safety protocols are maintained.
Officials emphasize that the safety of students and staff remains the top priority.
There are currently no known threats to the school following the arrest.
