Parksley Man Charged Following Shooting Investigation

Accomack County, VA - A 19-year-old Parksley man faces multiple charges after an investigation into a September shooting that damaged an occupied residence.


Sheriff W. Todd Wessells reported that the Accomack County Sheriff's Office received a report of shots fired in the Staunton Avenue area of Parksley, Virginia at approximately 4:42 a.m. on September 22, 2025.


Deputies responded to the scene and discovered that a residence occupied by two individuals had been struck by gunfire. An observable bullet hole was located at the home.


The investigation continued for several days before deputies executed a residential search warrant in the 21000 block of Cardinal Acres Drive in Parksley, Virginia on October 2, 2025. Multiple firearms were recovered during the search.


Following the investigation, authorities obtained warrants for Cayden Allen Smith, 19, of Parksley, Virginia. Smith faces charges of shooting into an occupied dwelling, shooting from a vehicle to endanger persons, and possession of a "sawed off" shotgun or rifle.


Smith is currently incarcerated at the Accomack County Jail with no bond. The Accomack County Sheriff's Office received assistance from the Parksley Police Department during the investigation.
