Police Seek Public Assistance in Locating Assault Suspect in Bridgeville Incident

Bridgeville, DE - The Delaware State Police are actively investigating an incident involving an assault in Bridgeville and are requesting the public's assistance in locating the suspect, identified as 30-year-old John Gleysteen of Bridgeville, Delaware.


The incident occurred on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, at approximately 9:33 a.m., near Handy Road and Craft Road in Bridgeville. Law enforcement officers responded to reports of an assault involving a tractor and a Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDot) employee.


Preliminary investigations revealed that Gleysteen arrived at the location on a tractor and collided with a DelDot tractor that was being used to mow grass. Following the collision, Gleysteen engaged in an argument with the DelDot employee at the scene before leaving.


Shortly after, he returned in a silver Ford F-250, removed a chainsaw from his vehicle, and placed the running chainsaw near the tire of the DelDot tractor.


According to the Delaware State Police, Gleysteen proceeded to forcibly enter the cab of the DelDot tractor, assaulting the operator and causing property damage before fleeing the scene. Despite the confrontation, the victim was not injured in the altercation.


Troopers have obtained an arrest warrant for Gleysteen, who remains at large. He is described as a white male, standing approximately 5'10", weighing 185 pounds, with brown hair and hazel eyes. He was last seen operating a silver Ford F-250 with Delaware vanity license plate "SUPRTUF."
