Police Seek Suspects in Attempted Carjacking at Burger King
Cambridge, MD - The Cambridge Police Department is investigating an attempted carjacking that occurred on January 19, 2026. Officers responded to the Burger King located in the 2700 block of Ocean Gateway at approximately 9:42 p.m.
Upon arrival, officers contacted the victim, who stated they had just exited the store and entered their vehicle. The victim reported being approached by two African American males, estimated to be around 20 years old. Both suspects were described as wearing black clothing and face masks.
According to the report, the suspects knocked on the victim's car windows asking for change before ordering the victim to exit the vehicle. One suspect opened the car door while the other brandished a handgun. The armed suspect was reportedly wearing white gloves and attempted to rack the slide of the weapon.
The victim reacted by immediately shutting the car door, locking it, and rolling up the windows. The suspects then fled toward the back of the restaurant, possibly heading toward Royal Farms.
Burger King employees told officers that prior to the incident, a white SUV had entered the drive-thru lane without ordering. Two males matching the suspect description exited the vehicle and walked around the building before entering the restroom area.
Camera footage reviewed by officers shows the white SUV involved is possibly a Volkswagen featuring a full sunroof and a spare tire on the rear driver's side.
The investigation is ongoing. The Cambridge Police Department requests that anyone with information contact them at 410-228-3333.
