Dorchester County, MD - The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) will temporarily close the Cambridge Creek Bridge on Maryland Avenue next week to perform necessary concrete repairs on the drawbridge. While marine and pedestrian traffic will remain unaffected, adjustments will be made to manage vehicle movement effectively.

Starting at 7 a.m. on Monday, May 5, crews will close the bridge to carry out the repair work. The project is being managed by SHA's contractor, ANA General Contractors LLC of Laurel, which is recognized as a certified Minority Business Enterprise by MDOT.

The team will utilize reflective barrels, temporary traffic signs, and variable message signs (VMS) to guide and detour traffic around the construction zone. Weather permitting, the work is expected to be completed by 5 p.m. on Friday, May 9.

During the closure, motorists traveling west on Maryland Avenue should turn left onto Dorchester Avenue, then make a right onto Cedar Street, followed by another right onto Academy Avenue to return to Maryland Avenue.

Conversely, those heading east on Maryland Avenue should turn right onto Academy Avenue, then take a left onto Cedar Street, followed by a left onto Dorchester Avenue to return to Maryland Avenue.

Motorists planning to travel through this area should prepare for detours and be ready for possible delays. Through these repairs, MDOT aims to ensure the continued safety and functionality of the Cambridge Creek Bridge.
