Laurel, DE - In a scenario that seems all too familiar, Delaware State Police have arrested 58-year-old Bethel resident Wade Bowersox for his 6th offense felony DUI early on Friday morning. The arrest occurred in Laurel, which has raised questions about how such a repeat offender is still allowed on our roads.

At approximately 12:32 a.m. on March 15, 2024, a vigilant trooper on patrol arrested Bowersox after observing a red Ford F-250 failing to maintain its lane while traveling westbound on County Seat Highway. The Ford, driven by Bowersox, committed several traffic violations, leading to the necessary traffic stops.

Upon contacting Bowersox, the trooper noticed multiple signs of the driver's impairment. After administering Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, Bowersox was taken into custody without incident for driving under the influence.

Further digging into his past revealed a rap sheet with five prior DUI-related convictions. Bowersox was transported to Troop 5, where he was charged with numerous offenses, including his 6th DUI (a felony), speeding in excess of 50 MPH, failing to remain within a single lane, failure to have insurance identification in possession, and failure to use a turn signal.

Bowersox was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 7 and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $6,503 cash bond.
