Carbon monoxide is a colorless and odorless gas that can be deadly indoors. Common causes of exposure include malfunctioning fuel-burning appliances, blocked vents, and the use of grills or generators inside homes.
Residents are advised to install CO detectors on every level of the home and near sleeping areas. Grills and generators should never be operated indoors.
If an alarm sounds or symptoms such as dizziness, nausea, or headaches occur, individuals should evacuate immediately and call 911.
