Riddle Farm Wastewater Treatment Plant is Fully Operational
Snow Hill, MD - The Riddle Farm Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) is now fully operational following the completion of a renovation and repair project. The project began in June 2024 and was completed on time and within budget.
Project partners included Public Works Water and Wastewater, George, Miles and Buhr (GMB), Veolia, and M2 Construction.
Public Works Director Dallas Baker commented on the project's success. "A big thanks goes out to our phenomenal team who did a knockout job getting the work done," Baker said. "Also, none of this would have been possible without the support of the Worcester County Commissioners."
The renovation was necessary due to clogging issues with filter membrane cassettes that were installed in 2017. These issues had significantly reduced the plant's capacity to treat wastewater. Despite several attempts to modify the treatment process, the clogging problems persisted.
As a result, from 2018 until recently, wastewater effluent had to be transported from the Riddle Farm facility to the Ocean Pines WWTP and the West Ocean City sewer system for treatment.
This temporary solution ended on November 4, 2025. All effluent from the Riddle Farm Sanitary Service Area is now being treated on-site again.
"We sincerely appreciate the public's support while we worked to get the Riddle Farm WWTP up and running again," Baker added.
