Salisbury, MD - City offices in the Government Office Building located at 125 North Division Street in Downtown Salisbury have been closed as of 11:00 a.m. on June 23, 2025, due to unforeseen circumstances. The offices affected include Human Resources, City Clerk, Department of Infrastructure Development, Procurement, and Finance.

This closure follows an Extreme Heat Warning issued by the National Weather Service for the Salisbury area, as extremely dangerous heat conditions are expected. Residents are advised to avoid outdoor activities, especially during the hottest parts of the day. Those who must be outdoors should stay hydrated, take frequent breaks in shaded areas, and limit their exposure to the heat.

Staying indoors in air-conditioned environments is strongly recommended, even overnight. Residents are also encouraged to check on family members and neighbors.

Cooling Resources Available in Salisbury

Multiple community resources are available to help residents stay cool during the heatwave:

- The splash pad at Unity Square

- Refillable water stations at Games Park

- Shaded areas at the Salisbury Zoo

Additionally, Wicomico County is operating a cooling center at the Civic Center throughout the week. For seniors aged 55 and older, the MAC Senior Center is open until 4:30 p.m. each day.

Residents should be aware that some attractions and resources may be subject to closure depending on weather conditions.

Currently, other City of Salisbury offices not located within the Government Office Building are expected to remain open. Residents are encouraged to monitor updates for any additional announcements.
