Salisbury Observes Independence Day with Events and Closures

Salisbury, MD - The City of Salisbury has announced plans for Independence Day celebrations alongside administrative closures for the holiday. On Friday, July 4, 2025, all government offices in the City of Salisbury will be closed.
However, the Salisbury Zoo will remain open to the public from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., offering visitors an opportunity to enjoy a peaceful walk amid the zoo's animal exhibits.
Residents and visitors are invited to celebrate Independence Day at City Park. The Sound Bites Tour will host a special performance by the Salisbury Community Band at the City Bandstand from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.
The free concert will feature classic American marches and patriotic favorites. Attendees can enjoy live music, food from the Grateful Grub food truck, and a family-friendly atmosphere.
The city's annual "Red, White, and BOOM" fireworks display will take place at James M. Bennett High School on the evening of July 4. Gates will open at 6 p.m., with fireworks scheduled to begin at 9:15 p.m.
Guests are encouraged to bring blankets or lawn chairs. Food trucks will be on-site and will offer a variety of options, such as ice cream, snow cones, hot dogs, and burgers. Both admission and the fireworks show are free, with costs incurred only for food purchases.
To accommodate the fireworks event, temporary road closures will begin at 8:30 p.m. on July 4 and will remain in effect until the end of the fireworks show. The affected roads include the following areas:
- East College Avenue (from Arthur Court to South Division Street)
- South Division Street (from Avery Street to West College Avenue)
Motorists and pedestrians are advised to use alternate routes and exercise caution in these areas. For those unable to attend the event, the fireworks display will be visible from various spots across Salisbury.
The city has also announced changes to the trash and recycling collection schedule for the week. Collections normally scheduled for Friday, July 4, will instead take place on Saturday, July 5. Residents should place containers at the curb by 6 a.m. for pickup.
