Salisbury Secures $50,000 Grant to Enhance Cultural Tourism at 2025 Maryland Folk Festival

Salisbury, MD - The City of Salisbury has been awarded a $50,000 Non-Capital Grant by the Maryland Heritage Areas Authority (MHAA) to enhance cultural tourism at the upcoming 2025 Maryland Folk Festival.
This funding will focus on the development and expansion of the Maryland Folklife Stage and Area.
Celebrating Maryland's Cultural Richness
The 2025 Maryland Folk Festival will feature a Folklife theme titled "Maryland: America in Miniature." This initiative aims to offer a dynamic and interactive heritage tourism experience, highlighting the cultural traditions of Maryland's Lower Eastern Shore as well as the diverse heritage of communities across the state.
The Folklife Area will bring the state's history and identity to life through performances, demonstrations, and interactive activities by master artists, skilled musicians, storytellers, and tradition-bearers.
Visitors can expect to immerse themselves in traditions like African American storytelling, the enduring legacy of bluegrass music, and Maryland's contributions to the nation's 250th anniversary.
"Folklife traditions play a vital role in the Maryland Folk Festival. Celebrating them in various formats is a true homage to our history. I look forward to watching these master artists bring our shared traditions to life," stated Mayor Randolph J. Taylor.
