Salisbury Zoo Names Jamie Nichols Assistant Director
Salisbury, MD - The Salisbury Zoo has announced the appointment of Jamie Nichols as its new assistant director. This selection completes the Zoo's senior leadership team at a significant time for the organization. Nichols was chosen as the top candidate following a competitive hiring process.
Nichols has served the Salisbury Zoo for the past three years. During this time, she has demonstrated strong commitment through her professionalism and leadership.
"Jamie has proven herself to be a thoughtful leader who understands both the day-to-day operations of the Zoo and its long-term vision," Chuck Eicholz, Zoo Director said. "We are confident she will be an outstanding addition to our senior leadership team as we move forward."
In her new position, Nichols will manage revenue initiatives and work to build partnerships within the Salisbury area. She will also oversee Guest Services, Education, Marketing, and Media Relations. These departments are essential to the Zoo's mission of conservation and community engagement.
The Salisbury Zoo serves as a free community resource for Salisbury and the Eastern Shore. With the senior staff team now fully in place, the organization will focus on strategic planning and improving guest experiences.
Looking ahead, the Zoo plans to apply for Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) accreditation in fall 2026 or spring 2027. This accreditation represents the highest standards in animal care and organizational excellence.
The leadership of the director and assistant director will be critical in guiding the Zoo toward this goal.
