Saturday Morning Fatal Hit-and-Run Accident Under Investigation in Easton, Maryland

Easton, MD - Officers from the Easton Police Department responded to a fatal hit-and-run accident on the morning of October 4, 2025. The incident occurred on westbound Ocean Gateway (Rt 50) at Woodridge Drive in Easton, Maryland.
At approximately 7:50 am, officers were dispatched to the scene after a passerby discovered a bicycle and the body of a person.
Upon arrival, officers found extensive vehicle debris and located the body of a 68-year-old male under a tree. Officers attempted life-saving measures but were unsuccessful.
Investigators from the Maryland State Police CRASH Team and the Easton Police Department have initiated a comprehensive investigation. Preliminary findings indicate the victim was struck by either a tractor trailer or box truck earlier in the day.
The suspect vehicle sustained front passenger side damage, including a missing mirror.
The victim's identity is being withheld pending notification of family members. Investigators are working to contact next of kin before releasing the name publicly.
