School Bus and SUV Collision Results in DWI Arrest
Kent County, MD - On Friday, March 13, 2026, Chestertown Police personnel responded to a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Washington Avenue and W. Campus Avenue at approximately 7:29 a.m. The crash involved a Kent County Public Schools bus and an SUV.
Officers arriving at the scene confirmed that no injuries were sustained. The incident resulted in property damage only.
The school bus was carrying 20 occupants at the time of the crash - 19 children and one adult driver. The SUV was operated by an adult female, who had a juvenile male passenger in the front seat.
The school bus sustained superficial damage and was able to continue its route. The SUV sustained moderate damage and was towed from the scene.
Following roadside sobriety testing, the SUV driver was taken into custody on suspicion of Driving While Impaired. The driver's identity will be released upon formal charges being filed.
Chestertown Police were assisted at the scene by the Kent County Sheriff's Office, Kent County Middle School administrative staff, and Kent County Public Schools - Transportation Division.
