Seaford Police Arrest Man for his 5th DUI on a Lawn Mower

Seaford, DE - On Saturday, March 28, 2026, at approximately 6:53 p.m., a Seaford Police Department officer observed a traffic violation. A subject was seen driving an orange zero-turn lawn mower across the intersection of Sussex Highway and Norman Eskridge Highway.

The officer initiated a traffic stop on the lawn maintenance device. Contact was made with the operator, who was identified as Bruce Chandler. During the interaction, the officer observed immediate signs of impairment.

A driving under the influence (DUI) investigation was conducted at the scene. Following the investigation, Chandler was taken into police custody.

He was subsequently charged with his fifth DUI offense. Chandler was committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution (SCI) on an intoxication hold.
