Cambridge, MD - On August 15, 2025, at approximately 9:20 a.m., multiple units from the Cambridge Police Department (CPD), including the P.A.C.E. Unit, Criminal Investigations Division, Patrol Division, K9 Unit, Drone Unit, and the Dorchester County Sheriff's Office K9 Unit, executed a search and seizure warrant on Dynell Lamonte Thompson Jr., a 40-year-old resident of Cambridge, Maryland.

The search warrant was obtained following an investigation conducted by the CPD P.A.C.E. Unit into the distribution of Controlled Dangerous Substances (CDS) in the 700 block of Pine Street during July and August of 2025.

The investigation was initiated after community complaints regarding ongoing drug activity in the area.

When officers attempted to serve the warrant, Thompson fled on foot. He was pursued by officers, and a Taser was deployed to subdue him.

During the search of the area where Thompson was located, detectives found items associated with the distribution and packaging of CDS, as well as a box of 9mm ammunition.

Further searches along Thompson's flight path led officers to recover discarded CDS. Thompson is prohibited from possessing ammunition due to prior criminal convictions.

Thompson was placed under arrest and was transported to the Cambridge Police Department for processing. He was later transferred to the Dorchester County Department of Corrections, where he is being held without bond.

Thompson faces multiple charges, including:

  • CDS Possession with Intent to Distribute Narcotic
  • CDS Possession Not Cannabis
  • Resist Arrest
  • Failure to Obey
  • Obstruct and Hinder
  • Illegal Possession of Ammunition

Authorities continue to address community concerns regarding drug activity and encourage residents to report suspicious behavior.
