QUEEN ANNE'S COUNTY, MD - A 43-year-old Severna Park woman has been charged in connection with a residential burglary that occurred in Chester, Maryland, in March 2025. The charges follow a multi-county investigation into a series of similar incidents.
On March 18, 2025, deputies from the Queen Anne's County Office of the Sheriff were dispatched to a residential burglary on Bayside Drive in Chester, Maryland. The investigation determined that a female suspect, later identified as Shannon Gough, had forced entry into the home by breaking a window. A small amount of money was stolen before the suspect fled the scene on foot.
The case progressed after the Anne Arundel County Police Department and the Howard County Police Department issued public appeals for information regarding similar burglaries in their areas.
The Queen Anne's County Office of the Sheriff received a tip with a possible name for the suspect, which was then shared with the other agencies. This tip, combined with information received by the other jurisdictions, helped link the burglaries to one suspect.
Through a collaborative investigation, detectives identified the suspect in all three counties as 43-year-old Shannon Gough of Severna Park, Maryland.
On October 2, Gough was charged by the Queen Anne's County Office of the Sheriff with first-degree burglary, fourth-degree burglary, malicious destruction of property, and theft of less than $100.
Sheriff Gary Hofmann commented on the cooperative effort, stating, "This case is a great example of how collaboration between law enforcement agencies and the public can bring results, even when time has passed. Cases like these are never forgotten, sometimes it just takes the right tip to move them forward. Our office will continue to pursue every lead and work tirelessly with our law enforcement partners to ensure those responsible for crimes are brought to justice."
