Shooting Incident Reported on Light Street in Cambridge

Cambridge, MD - On the evening of July 8, 2025, at approximately 4:46 p.m., Cambridge Police Department officers and detectives responded to two "Shot Spotter" alerts indicating multiple gunshots near the 400 block of Light Street in Cambridge, Maryland.
Concurrently, reports from local residents also confirmed hearing shots fired in the area.
Upon arrival, officers recovered spent shell casings from 9mm and .380 caliber firearms at the scene. Initial witness statements indicated seeing an African American male wearing a white tank top and dreadlocks discharging a firearm in the vicinity.
Investigators also reviewed video footage from the area, which revealed a dark-colored vehicle occupied by multiple individuals. The footage showed a rear passenger of the vehicle leaning out of the window and pointing an object toward Academy Street.
The vehicle was later observed leaving the area, making a right turn onto Race Street.
Further examination of the locations mentioned in the video footage uncovered additional spent shell casings, consistent with the scene of the reported shooting. Officers conducted interviews with several witnesses, who reported that the suspect firing shots was seated in the vehicle.
Additionally, one residence on Light Street was found to have been damaged by gunfire. At this time, no injuries or other victims have been reported.
